August - B1: Intro to Sewing (SEW.B1.IP)
In Person in West Jordan Utah.
No prior sewing knowledge is required for this beginner-friendly, in-person sewing course. Over four 1-hour classes, students will learn foundational sewing skills while creating their own tote bag from start to finish.
Students will be introduced to sewing machine basics, essential tools, fabric basics, cutting, pressing, simple seams, basting, topstitching, and box corners. As they work through the tote bag project, they will also learn how to think through a sewing project step by step, solve common beginner challenges, and build confidence for future projects.
All materials are included. Students may also choose to purchase their own supplies or bring their own sewing machine if they would like to practice on the machine they will use at home.
An additional Saturday catch-up session is available at the end of the month for students who fall behind, need extra support, or would like more time to finish their project.
Please arrive on time for each class, as instruction begins promptly and late arrivals may miss important demonstrations. Students are expected to come prepared and ready to work.
You are welcome to bring your own sewing machine if you prefer. Sewing machines will also be provided for students who do not have one or do not wish to transport theirs.
Students are responsible for providing fabric, thread, and any required materials when requested. Specific supply needs will be communicated in advance or during class, and students should bring the materials specified by the instructor.
Regular attendance, preparedness, and participation are essential to get the most out of the class.
