SC1: Sewing Machines (SEW.S.SC1.D)
This self-paced online short course is designed to help students better understand the different types of sewing machines, what they do, and how their features can support different sewing projects. This course teaches students how to compare machine types, understand common functions, and recognize which features are useful for different sewing needs.
The course is designed to be completed in about one week, but students will have access to the course materials for up to two months. During that two-month access period, students may ask questions related to the course content.
By the end of this class, students will be able to:
Identify common types of sewing machines and how they are different.
Understand basic, intermediate, and advanced sewing machine features.
Explain how machine functions can support different sewing projects.
Compare sewing machines based on features, not just brand or price.
Recognize which machine features may be helpful for garments, bags, quilting, embroidery, stuffed animals, and other sewing projects.
Feel more confident reading sewing machine descriptions and understanding what the features mean.
