Upper Elementary: Money Talks - The Great Galactic Trade Adventure (UE.C.F.1)
This engaging online course introduces students to the foundations of money and economics through an original sci-fi story about tiny alien creatures trying to understand how humans trade, buy, sell, and assign value.
Using storytelling as a guide, students will explore:
- The origins and history of money
- Bartering and trade systems
- What gives money value
- The traits that make something effective as money
- The evolution from coins to paper money to digital payments
- How trust and society shape economic systems
Designed to spark curiosity and critical thinking, the course combines narrative lessons, interactive discussions, creative activities, graded assignments, quizzes, and class discussions to help students build a strong understanding of economic concepts in a fun and approachable way.
Students will also participate in a weekly 45-minute live Zoom session where they can ask questions, discuss ideas, and interact with the instructor and classmates in real time.
This course is the first of four sections in the series. After completing this section, students are encouraged to continue with The Mystery Market, followed by The Currency Conspiracy, and finally The Galactic Economy as they continue exploring trade, markets, banking, investing, and the future of money.
